Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur
A hotel in the northern part of Kuala Lumpur’s city center. Conveniently connected to two stations, shopping malls, and the exhibition center (PWTC).
Hi there! I’m Aya, a Japanese wife living in Malaysia.
Today, we’re introducing the Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur, located in the northern part of central Kuala Lumpur. This hotel is situated within a shopping mall and is directly connected to two stations (KTM PUTRA Station and LRT PWTC Station) as well as the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) via a link bridge, making it incredibly convenient! From KTM PUTRA Station, it’s just three stops to KL Sentral Station, Malaysia’s main terminal hub, offering excellent access to the airport and other railway stations—highly recommended for travelers. Due to its prime location, the hotel is always bustling with international guests. It’s also a great choice for those attending or exhibiting at the MATTA Fair, Malaysia’s hugely popular travel exhibition held every March and September.
In Malaysia, where the rail network isn’t as developed as it is in Japan, hotels within walking distance of stations via covered walkways are a rare find.

Surrounded by lush greenery, you can relax by the hotel pool. There’s a large pool in the center, and benches line the four poolside areas around it, perfect for taking a break. The circular pool in the foreground is a jacuzzi. I took a leisurely stroll around the poolside with my kids! 😊

Trees line the pool area, but from here you can catch views of the Twin Towers and the KL Tower. Under the wide open sky, it feels so refreshing to relax in the large pool (≧◇≦)

■ Room:
<2-Bedroom>

1 King Bed + 1 Single Bed
There’s also space next to the king bed for a baby crib.
Accommodates 3 adults + 1 baby.

This room features a living room, making it perfect for gathering with the whole family and enjoying plenty of conversation! It also comes equipped with a study desk. We stayed in a room that was slightly larger than usual, and its spaciousness allowed the kids to run around freely.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed and a large mirror, making it incredibly convenient for quick touch-ups before heading out. It is fully equipped with a closet, refrigerator, electric kettle, water, coffee, and tea bags. With plenty of space to store belongings, it was extremely user-friendly for us, who were traveling with a baby and lots of luggage. It’s the perfect spot to relax with a cup of coffee in the single chair!

In front of the master bedroom, there is a bathroom with a bathtub. It features a large tub, perfect for relaxing. Of course, shampoo and conditioner are provided, along with other amenities such as toothbrushes.

This is a pristine, fully air-conditioned gym with a wide array of machines and water dispensers available. It’s the perfect spot to sweat while enjoying pool views, giving both your brain and body a refreshing recharge!! If you’re traveling, I highly recommend carving out a full day to stay at the hotel and make the most of the pool, gym, and other amenities. Don’t miss out on the value—use it to the fullest!
<Kids’ Room>

There’s also a kids’ room on the 9th floor, where the reception is located.
<Breakfast>

They offer a wide variety of delicious options, including Western dishes, local cuisine, bread, noodles, and egg-based meals. The egg dishes are freshly prepared by the staff right before your eyes. With plenty of space, it’s a relaxing spot where families with children can unwind comfortably.
We enjoyed a hearty buffet breakfast this morning.

■ Lobby Lounge, Reception, and Exterior:

<Reception>

The reception is located on the 9th floor. If you’re arriving by train, take the link bridge from the station into the shopping mall, descend once to the ground floor, exit the mall, and then head to a different hotel entrance to go up to the 9th floor.
Since it attracts many foreign travelers and group tours, the reception area is spacious.

■ Shuttle Bus, Mall, and Station:
<Shuttle Bus>

There is a shuttle bus that runs four times a day on a loop: Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur → KLCC → Pavilion → Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Please note that advance reservation is required for the shuttle bus, so kindly make your booking directly with the concierge.

Taking the train with kids can be a hassle, so we headed to Pavilion via the shuttle bus. It was so comfortable!!
<Mall>

The brown building on the upper left is the hotel, and the shopping mall is in the foreground.

A look inside the shopping mall

A supermarket called Cold Storage located within the mall. You can buy a variety of souvenirs here.

Plus, there’s a dedicated liquor store stocked with plenty of options—beer, of course, as well as wine, whiskey, and more!

This is the Link Bridge. You can reach the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) exhibition hall and the KTM Putra Station by crossing this bridge.

This link bridge connects to the LRT PWTC station.

This exit from the mall connects directly to the station. You’ll need to watch out for the signs, as they can sometimes be too small to spot.

Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s Selling Points
“Conveniently connected to two stations (KTM Putra Station, LRT PWTC Station), shopping malls, and the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC)” + “Just three stops from KTM Putra Station to KL Sentral Station (Malaysia’s main terminal hub)”
Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur Address:
100, Jalan Putra, Chow Kit, 50350 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur
Surrounding Information
The Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), a major exhibition venue, is just steps away. The KTM Putra station and LRT PWTC station are directly connected to the shopping mall, which is its biggest advantage. It’s incredibly convenient! Once you’re in the mall, you’ll find supermarkets, restaurants, and shops everywhere, making dining and shopping a breeze.
The Sunway Putra Hotel is featured in Malaysian travel magazines and is also conveniently located near the Chow Kit Market, a popular spot for locals. It’s just an 8-minute drive away, or you can walk (about 15–20 minutes) or take public transport (with a transfer at LRT Titiwangsa Station). If you have some spare time during your trip, be sure to visit this vibrant market and soak in the authentic Southeast Asian atmosphere.
Take the LRT to the second station, LRT Bandaraya, where you’ll find Kuala Lumpur SOGO. SOGO is a shopping mall, but the real highlight is the surrounding Indian and Malay neighborhoods. You’ll find shops selling traditional clothing, accessories, and more from various ethnic communities. The area has recently seen improved roadworks, making it much easier to explore on foot. Alternatively, you can take the train to LRT Pasar Seni to reach Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown. In recent years, the area has evolved beyond just trendy cafes, gaining more tourist appeal with attractions like street art, affordable local Malaysian-Chinese cuisine, and cleaner, more inviting streets. If you stay near the station, you can easily hop on the train for spontaneous sightseeing tours.
