Hello!

I’m Aya, a Japanese wife. It’s Italian again this time! Last time, I introduced an Italian restaurant called The Club at the G Tower Hotel near the Twin Towers and afternoon tea at the Westin Hotel Kuala Lumpur. This time, I’ll introduce the Italian buffet lunch at Prego, also located at the Westin Hotel! Wow! So much volume, fresh and delicious, delicious!!! Delizia (Delizia) means “delicious” in Italian! If you’re staying long-term in Malaysia or on a business trip, please give it a try! If you’re traveling, do visit if you have the time and opportunity.

So many glasses!!! And the drinks are available for an additional charge (≧◇≦)

The seafood is absolutely incredible! Clams, oysters, prawns—the freshness is outstanding!

First, let’s meet the chef. It’s Marco De Cecco, an authentic Italian native. He’s been working as an Italian cuisine chef in Singapore and has taken on the role of head chef at Prego, located at The Westin Hotel in Bukit Bintang, starting this year. Since taking up the position, he’s expanded the menu for both lunch and dinner, and now about 85% of the dishes are handmade. With a bright smile, he shared his ambition to raise that figure to 95% handmade in the future. This “95% handmade” standard includes items like pasta, cheese, and bread. After hearing him talk, I was blown away by his incredible dedication—it even makes you want to start studying Italian cuisine! What kind of rare, exquisite dishes will he create? Let’s explore them together!

Wooow! I’m about to enjoy some wonderful Italian home cooking! It’s served as finger food, making it easy to eat and absolutely delicious! The vegetables include tomatoes, eggplants, and potatoes, along with eggs, bread, fish, chicken, and more.

The presentation is stylish, the colors are vibrant, and the dishes are so appetizing that it feels like a waste to eat them!!! But let’s enjoy every bite with a smile!

You can also go shopping right after eating! Prego is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s bustling downtown area, and the hugely popular Pavilion Mall is just across the road, making it super convenient!

Craving more meat? No worries. Feel free to dig into this whole roasted chicken, served in a STAUB pot! Once you start eating that tender, piping-hot meat, you won’t be able to stop…! By the way, this restaurant is pork-free—meaning they don’t serve pork at all. This is standard across hotels in Malaysia. Friends of mine who are long-staying in Malaysia all agree that Malaysian chicken dishes are incredibly delicious, and they truly are!

The restaurant also features a dedicated pizza oven. The pizza baked right in front of you at the oven is truly exceptional!

And there’s bread, desserts, and ice cream too. The portion sizes are absolutely generous.

They also slice up their special fish dishes right in front of you. Since arriving in Malaysia, I’ve rarely had the chance to enjoy grilled fish, so it was truly heartwarming to savor a fish wrapped in salt and grilled to perfection after such a long time.

Of course, pasta is a must-have.

Knowing that Marco De Cecco has poured his heart into these freshly made pasta, it tastes even more delicious. This pasta is also handmade, setting it apart from ordinary pasta. It’s truly exceptional.

How does that sound? The taste is excellent, and the presentation is stylish—totally satisfying.

Marco De Cecco, hailing from Buttrio in northern Italy (just below the central region), is deeply passionate about serving authentic Italian home cooking. We wholeheartedly support his mission! Malaysia is a multi-ethnic nation with a diverse array of cuisines from each community. From Malay, Chinese, and Indian to the varied dishes of minority groups, the culinary landscape is rich. International cuisines, including Middle Eastern, Thai, other Southeast Asian, Japanese, and Korean options, are also abundant. Although Italian food is still relatively scarce despite its popularity among Japanese people, we highly recommend the Viva Italia Sunday Brunch. This is the same venue as the Italian afternoon tea spot we introduced previously—Prego. Please note that the afternoon tea is only available from Monday to Saturday, 2 pm to 6 pm, while this “Italian Buffet Lunch” is exclusively held on Sundays.
