Highly Recommended Tourist Spot Near KL: SKY MIRROR – Surrounding Area Guide
Hello! I’m Aya, a Japanese wife who’s absolutely obsessed with durian.
Here’s the second part of our guide to sightseeing around the Sky Mirror! If you’re planning a visit, feel free to use this itinerary as a reference. In the morning, start with the Sky Mirror, then head to the Hindu temple, followed by a stroll through Taman Alam Kuala Selangor (the mangrove park), and finish off with a trip to the nearby town of Sekinchan (about a 30-minute drive away).
■ Local Malaysian Hindu Temples:
When you think of Hindu temples in Malaysia, the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, often featured in guidebooks, probably comes to mind first. There are various Hindu temples located in different regions across each state. This time, I’d like to introduce the Sri Shakti India Temple, which you’ll encounter on your way from Kuala Lumpur to Sky Mirror. It is situated in the Bukit Rotan area of Kuala Selangor. You can easily make a stop here before or after visiting Sky Mirror.

If you’ve ever visited an Indian temple in Malaysia, you’ll know that many feature intricate designs with numerous sculptures of Hindu deities adorning the tall roofs. While these details can be hard to make out when viewing from below, they become clearly visible when you zoom in with a camera. Indian temples are often known for their vibrant, colorful exteriors, but this particular temple stands out with its cohesive beige color scheme, offering a calm and understated aesthetic. I found that unique and quite lovely.

The wooden door at the entrance is adorned with intricate carvings, creating a solemn atmosphere. While photography is not permitted inside, visitors are welcome to enter and explore. You can pay your respects and relax in the tranquil courtyard of the temple. With its lush lawn and designated areas for prayer, the interior feels like a world apart.
■Taman Alam Kuala Selangor (Mangrove Park Walk)

Near the Sky Mirror Jetty, you’ll find a mangrove park called Taman Alam Kuala Selangor. It’s just a 10-minute walk or a 4-minute drive from the Sky Mirror Jetty, and it’s also conveniently close to the hill where the monkeys live (Bukit Melawati), which I featured in my previous post.

It’s a fairly spacious park, and walking the entire loop can be quite tiring, so I highly recommend heading straight to this observation deck (it’s the direct route). From there, you can enjoy a stunning, panoramic view of the mangroves from above—it’s incredibly refreshing. There is an entrance fee, but it’s very affordable. There are also walking trails to the left and right, which take about 45 minutes to an hour to complete. While I wouldn’t necessarily recommend them unless you have plenty of time, feel free to give them a try if you’re up for it.
Park Entrance Fee:
Adults: RM4
MNS Members: RM2
Students/Children under 17: RM1
Seniors (over 60) :RM2

The mangrove forest is cool and refreshing. However, there are plenty of bugs, so be sure to take proper mosquito precautions!
The sidewalks are home to adorable monkeys, so you can take a break and snap some photos with the towering mangroves—it’s a true refreshment for both body and soul!

■ The nearby town – Sekinchan (about 30 minutes by car)

Yes! Malaysia also produces rice! Sekinchan, a popular tourist destination among locals in recent years, is just about a 30-minute drive from the Sky Mirror. If you have extra time, it’s definitely worth adding Sekinchan to your itinerary. We’ll be introducing Sekinchan in our next post, so stay tuned!
■Bus Cafe

Sekinchan has new attractions and fun spots to explore. I briefly mentioned this bus café in an English blog post last time, but I’ll add some details here in Japanese. As you can see, it’s a café renovated from an old bus. The bus stands out prominently, sitting alone at a two-story height right in the middle of the rice fields.

The interior (or is it the inside of the bus?) features the original bus seats, allowing up to four people to sit together. Since they only sell a few small cakes in addition to their basic coffee, this spot isn’t ideal for those looking for a hearty meal. Instead, it’s perfect for a quick coffee break during your travels. The coffee itself isn’t like the strong brews you’d find in Japan—it’s incredibly light and mild. It’s a great place to take a short break, relax while gazing out the window at the rice fields, and unwind right in the heart of Malaysia’s countryside. A truly unique experience!
