[Eat Nico] Nam Heong (南香) at KL ChinaTown (クアラルンプール 中華街)

If you’re a fan of chicken rice, you simply can’t miss this spot.

How many years do you think this shop has been in business?

Founded in 1938, Nam Heong (南香) boasts an impressive 81-year history as of 2019. It’s incredibly delicious, so be sure to pay it a visit!

We ordered a half chicken for about RM26, which was more than enough to fill the stomachs of four adults.

For the side dishes, I ordered char siu, soup, and vegetables. In total, the meal came to about RM70 (≧▽≦).

Tender and delicious chicken.

It’s called gai lan—a vegetable with a texture reminiscent of rapeseed, boasting that irresistible crunch. It’s so delicious that I often buy it at the supermarket and stir-fry it (#^.^#)

Remember our “Discovering Beautiful KL Chinatown” project?

Series 1 covered 【Streets and Buildings】, and Series 2 focused on 【Cafés】.

Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown, known as “Chee Cheong Kai” and called Jalan Petaling (Petaling Street) in Chinese, is located in the heart of the city.

Recently, KL’s Chinatown has undergone a significant transformation, with a surge in trendy cafes popping up all over the area.

We’ll continue to introduce them little by little in the future.

Personally, I sincerely hope that Jalan Petaling (Petaling Street) and its surrounding area will be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, protecting it from destruction caused by development.

Within the complex, you’ll find a mix of structures: some have been rebuilt, others restored and renovated, while a few remain in their original, untouched state.
