[Eat Nico] Family Gathering While Enjoying Warm Home-Style Curry Seafood Hot Pot: Master Ng 7 Star Menu at Puchong

Let’s see the Tabebiko!!!

This time, we’re introducing a seafood curry hotpot restaurant located in Puchong! 🍲🍲🍲

Malaysia’s B-grade delicacy, Curry Mee, is a soul food for Malaysian Chinese! Since Indians make up 8% of Malaysia’s population, you might wonder if this dish has some Indian culinary influence. However, it turns out this dish was actually born among the Malaysian Chinese community. While regular Curry Mee typically features chicken, fried tofu puffs, and small shellfish—and is commonly seen at hawker stalls—Seafood Curry Mee is considered a bit unusual even by locals 😄 It’s like Curry Mee, upgraded!

The Master Ng 7 Star Menu is a family-run eatery owned by a brother and sister, who have inherited the authentic flavors their father spent 30 years perfecting at his stall, day in and day out. The seafood and fish used in their dishes are sourced directly from local fishermen in Sabah, ensuring they are incredibly fresh and delicious!!!

  2. Menu No.: SC13S Crispy Pork Lard Rice With Egg RM9.9

A clay pot rice dish with a fried egg on top, infused with a blend of lard and soy sauce. The crispy rice at the bottom was absolutely delicious! 🤩

A croissant sandwich filled with mayonnaise and eggs

  1. Menu No.: DS22 Polo Bun RM6.9

Melon bread with butter sandwiched inside

  2. Menu No.: RCO1S Hinan Fried Chicken Chop With Rice RM12.9

  3. Menu No.: RCO1S Yellow Wine Horse Grass Fed Chicken With Rice RM12.9

Spread of Malaysian dishes including laksa, claypot rice, fried chicken rice, and kaya toast on a blue table.

Bottom Left Menu No.: RCO1S Hinan Fried Chicken Chop With Rice RM12.9

Because they’re fried in a mix of various seasonings, they turn out crispy and packed with flavor—absolutely delicious! 😋👍 They come with ketchup sauce, but I personally prefer them without it.

Second from the left | Menu No.: RCO1S Yellow Wine Horse Grass Fed Chicken With Rice RM12.9

Chicken soup simmered with Koushu (a type of Chinese medicinal wine). It’s a soup commonly consumed after childbirth, and I drank it like crazy myself after my own delivery! 😄 So, it’s probably good for your body and packed with nutrients!

Center-right Menu Item: A-Carte Golden Pumpkin Toast RM5.9

A bread made by kneading pumpkin into the dough, with ghee sandwiched inside and topped with butter.

A table spread featuring Nasi Lemak, claypot dishes, and drinks including a chocolate frappe and passion fruit lemon tea.

Drinks

Left: Menu No. DK01 Coffee With Gula Malacca RM7.5

Wiener coffee topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce ☕☆ It’s just like the coffee served at Bucks, and amazingly, it’s only RM7.5 🤩 Super affordable and delicious 😋😋😋 Rich and flavorful coffee.

Right Menu Number: DK42 Passion Family 百香一家亲

If you prefer light and refreshing drinks, I highly recommend this passion fruit juice. Since the dishes are quite rich in flavor, this is a great palate cleanser 👍👍👍 There’s a wide variety of fruit juices available, so feel free to try them all! It feels like it’s priced at less than half of what you’d expect at a shopping mall (in my personal opinion).

Back center Menu No.: DK14 Lemon 7up RM4.5

A refreshing citrus drink with dried plum inside. The plum flavor isn’t overpowering, offering just the right balance of taste—delicious! In Malaysia, many drinks contain dried plum, but their plum flavor tends to be quite strong and unique, which often divides opinions among Japanese visitors. However, the drink at this shop is easy to enjoy. My friend who came with me couldn’t handle the plum flavor at other places, but she loved this one and finished it all 😄

Back right: Menu No. DK07 Gula Malacca Tea

Sorry the photo is cut off 💦 This is a sweet black tea with milk, topped with whipped cream—like a Wiener Coffee ☕ but for black tea? A “Wiener Black Tea”?! It was also delicious 😋😋😋

The top 3 items I ordered that I found especially delicious 🤩👍

The #3 spot goes to this↓↓↓

A bowl of fish ball noodles with fried tofu, lettuce, and herbs on a blue table.

Menu No.: SGO3S Master Ng’s Signature Leopard Grouper 3foo Mee (Soup) RM12.9

The mee soup, noodles, and fish balls are all handmade 🍜

The soup is made with a dashi broth using fish 🐟 bones. The noodles are egg-based, and the fish balls are made from white fish that’s formed into balls and deep-fried. The broth is enriched not only by the fish bones but also by the fish balls themselves, resulting in a light, easy-to-eat, and delicious flavor 😋👍

The second place goes to this↓↓↓

Golden fried chicken nuggets served in a woven bamboo basket on a blue table.

Menu No.: SD02 Big 3Fu Special RM13.9

Three types of fried dumplings: fish, shrimp, and pork. But I felt like there were more fish dumplings, didn’t they? According to the staff, the flat ones are the fish and shrimp dumplings, while the round ones are the pork dumplings. These dumplings are handmade and perfect as a snack! While chatting, we kept munching on them 😄 Before I knew it, they were all gone (lol). They’re also ideal as a bar snack 👍

These are the dumplings that were in the No. 3 fish soup from earlier.

Please take a look at the photo below.

A young boy looks at a display freezer in a shop featuring a large wall mural of Master Ng cooking Golden Yufoo and curry noodles.

The owner’s father used to make these fried dumplings the same way when he was still working. He spent 30 years sweating day in and day out to perfect them, and they were truly delicious. They’re still handmade at the shop today! The store also sells a variety of frozen fish, dumplings, and other items, so be sure to pick some up as souvenirs 🐟🐟🐟 The seafood here is sourced directly from fishermen and flash-frozen immediately, so it’s incredibly fresh! The dishes were also absolutely delicious, so my friends and I all bought souvenirs to take home 😄👍

The No. 1 spot goes to this↓↓↓

A claypot of spicy laksa with prawns, clams, tofu puffs, and herbs.

Menu No.: GCP01 Giant Claypot Master Ng’s Seafood Curry Mee RM30

Absolutely, hands down the best! The shop’s signature dish, the Seafood Curry Noodles, was the most delicious 🤩😋🤩😋🤩😋

The curry-flavored broth is enriched with a seafood dashi, and in addition to shrimp and shellfish, it even contains fillets of a rare deep-sea fish that you rarely see in Malaysia!!! This is the Leopard Grouper, a deep-sea fish caught in Sabah. While Malaysia, where freshwater fish are common, offers steamed fish dishes at various restaurants, deep-sea fish are seldom eaten or even encountered, making this a truly precious find! And then there’s the fish belly (not visible in the photo, but it’s included inside; it looks fried, but it isn’t. Fish belly is an unusual food for Japanese people, so please give it a try! It’s probably packed with collagen 🤩 I absolutely love fish belly 😋). The bowl is also loaded with plenty of other ingredients like eggplant, green beans, and fish balls, with noodles at the bottom. This portion shown in the photo serves 2–3 people 🍲🍲🍲

Restaurant interior with ocean mural wall and blue water-themed table, featuring a hanging red fish decoration.

Inside the shop. The photos on this wall depict the sea of Sabah, and the tables are designed with a marine theme. Imagine fish swimming in the ocean as you savor delicious seafood 😄 The taste truly changes when you eat while picturing the fish 🐟🐟🐟 From March to June, the sea is calm, so that’s apparently the fishing season. It’s exactly now! I hope lots of delicious fish are caught 😄

The red fish above is the LEOPARD GROUPER, a deep-sea species.

They bring out your chopsticks, spoon, fork, and knife by soaking them in boiling water for disinfection.

In Malaysia, many local Chinese restaurants provide hot water for diners to sterilize their own cutlery, but more casual Chinese eateries like this one often don’t offer that service, so I thought it was really nice that they did! Especially in these times of the pandemic, it’s important to be mindful of hygiene.

A deeply satisfying culinary journey that filled both my stomach and my heart 🍛🍜🍚🍛🍜🍚

Our culinary journey—Tabeniko!—will continue 🤩🤩🤩

It’s a family-run business. Carrying on the flavors their parents perfected over 30 years of running a hawker stall, they opened this shop in May 2021.

With such a rich menu, you can enjoy not just lunch and dinner, but also breakfast, afternoon tea after lunch, or evening tea after dinner! It’s a great spot for families, friends, or couples to enjoy together. When ordering, be sure to check out Tabiniko’s blog to see photos of the dishes and help you decide what to order!

A festive 13-ingredient seafood pot dish featuring abalone, prawns, and scallops, with a menu listing special ingredients in Chinese.

Yusheng is also on sale right now 😋👍 No, not bonsai! (lol) Have you ever tried this? It seems to be becoming a dish eaten during the Lunar New Year. It’s kind of like osechi for us in Japan, right?? To put it simply, it’s a luxurious seafood and meat hot pot 🍲 Packed with premium ingredients like abalone, sea cucumber, scallops, oysters, prawns, fish maw, roasted pork, duck, chicken, shiitake mushrooms, and broccoli. It’s incredibly delicious~ The ingredients are obviously tasty, but the broth is the real star—a rich, flavorful dashi extracted from all those premium ingredients.

This soup is so good—you could even finish it off by adding noodles or rice to make a hearty porridge! Or, why not go all out and turn it into a Japanese-style hot pot at the end? 😋😋😋
